Scheduling a Visit

Are you part of a school, library, community center or other group that would like to bring Alex in to talk? You’re in luck! Not only are they an inspiring and an engaging speaker, but they would be delighted to talk with you about arranging a visit. They live north of New York City and love to travel.

Alex is flexible about the age and size of groups. Appearances usually begin with a 10-15 minute talk and then launch into an interactive and individualized question & answer session. Alex is also open to leading writing workshops with groups of up to 30. Alex uses no AV equipment (other than a mic, depending on group size).

Alex is proud to be part of The Author Village. To arrange a personalized visit, or to learn more about rates and availability for in-person and virtual visits, fill out this form or email hello@theauthorvillage.com. If you are a group serving LGBTQIAP+ and/or otherwise marginalized youth, reach out to me directly for a discounted/free visit at alex@alexgino.com.

Plus, Testimonials

Alex’s presentation was funny, heartfelt, and candid. Our students’ many questions were thoughtfully, and beautifully addressed. Not only did the children enjoy Alex’s presentation, but teachers and parents found it inspiring as well. Our community is still buzzing about Alex’s visit! – Lucy Rafael, Librarian; Center for Early Education, West Hollywood, CA

Not only is Alex an engaging speaker, but they truly connect with students during visits. Whether it’s answering students’ questions or discussing Alex’s books with intelligence and honesty, they makes sure everyone is respectful of creating and maintain a safe space. Alex is one of most requested authors!” – Monica Carter, Program Manager; LGBTQ Writers in Schools, Lambda Literary, New York, NY

We have been so fortunate to have Alex Gino visit our school to share their books and life as a writer for the last three years. And every year, fourth and fifth graders have insisted that Alex’s visit is a highlight of the school year. Alex’s books, George and You Don’t Know Everything, Jilly P! challenge students to navigate real-world topics – such as gender identity, allyship and racial injustice – and our students appreciate how Alex addresses such issues with candor, sensitivity and a dry wit. We will continue to enjoy Alex’s books as some of our most beloved texts – and will continue to invite Alex back to work with our students year after year! – Sarah Goldman, 5th Grade, Queen Anne Elementary, Seattle

Alex Gino’s visit to our small public library was lovely. Alex is inquisitive and engaging, and quickly put our group of teens and adults at ease. There was a lot of laughter and we loved hearing Alex read from their bestselling books! We look forward to our next visit! – Casey O’Leary, Librarian; Mooresville Public Library, Mooresville, IN

After reading Alex Gino’s George, in a young adult literature course, our students were so moved that they had to invite Alex to speak. Alex’s visit to our university was truly a joy, and Alex engaged our students with humor, kindness and sensitivity to the particular needs and interests of university students.  However, Alex also challenged us to think more deeply about identity and the differences that separate us, and how literature can both bridge these differences and serve as a catalyst for honest and respectful conversation and healing. Our evening with Alex was a highlight of the school year and continues to influence our classroom conversations. – William Lewis Ph.D. Associate Professor; University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware
